Stress… by definition is pressure which can be physical, mental, spiritual or emotional amongst other things.
Living in the busy world that we are in today, it’s its easy to accumulate aches and pains to accommodate the stress of everyday living. Not only has it become an expectancy but its also become a norm… A norm we don’t have to tolerate. My goal is to work on the aches and pains which in return will reduce the stress to eventually alleviate the discomfort of those stress related aches and pains.
Massage can be more than just relaxation, for there are many benefits including: enhanced sleep quality, assist muscle memory, increased energy and range of motion, relieve migraine pain, body pains and aches, reduce post surgery adhesions and swelling and many more. Click through the different tabs to learn more about the benefits of massage, answers to frequently asked questions and links to the awesome BodySense® magazine.
Then, take a journey through the pain-spasm-pain cycle and the effects massage can have in that cycle and schedule your appointment or even purchase a gift certificate for someone else.
Contact information and client forms can also be easily accessed to assist in the process, reducing the risk of causing even more stress.
A Journey Into Pain & Massage
Imagine you’re in a valley, no light, no sun, no knowledge of your surroundings or what’s to come… Confusion clouds your mind and due to the lack of visibility, images become disfigured and distorted, this is when something is going wrong in your body…
Suddenly, your body begins to jolt violently, you have tightness in your muscles and begin to experience a series of tingling pricks… This is pain in your body.
You feel like you’re in danger. Do you run (to a place you can not see) or do you fight (a source unknown to you)? Your blood pressure rises as your breathing gets faster with each breath. Your pulse rate increases as your heart beats faster. Your body begins to stiffen and you find yourself stuck in shock and can not move, being forced to bear the blunt of every blow that comes your way which seems to get stronger with each impact of the pain-spasm-pain cycle.
A soothing touch suddenly sends pleasant sensations to your brain. Your blood pressure lowers as your breathing begins to slow and deepen. Your pulse rate decreases as your heart begins to calm... Your body relaxes and begins to heal and recuperate.
Even though the diversion is temporary, it gives you a chance to relax and let go of the unpleasant stimulus, including stress, possibly long enough to shut down the fight or flight reaction and gain ground to stand.
My goal is to be that soothing, reassuring touch that is the effect of massage on the body in the pain-spasm-pain cycle and help you to regain some sense of control.
Benefits Of Massage
Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:
Decreased anxiety.
Enhanced sleep quality.
Greater energy.
Improved concentration.
Increased circulation.
Reduced fatigue.
Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:
Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
Ease medication dependence.
Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
Increase joint flexibility.
Lessen depression and anxiety.
Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
Reduce spasms and cramping.
Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
Relieve migraine pain.

First Time Customers:
It is company policy that all services are paid for prior to session on first visit. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. This is typically only for the first visit and all subsequent visits can be paid after session, but is per discretion of Therapist. Advanced apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:
24 hour advance notice is required when cancelling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to give us 24 hours advance notice you will be charged the full amount of your appointment. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
No-shows
Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, your therapist will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time.
We look forward to serving you!

Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. If this a house call the room will be chosen by you in your home and should be comfortable and free of distractions. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort, keep in mind however, that an area clothed is indicated as a "do not touch" comfort zone and will not be massaged nor will clothing be manipulated or moved to access desired areas. You will be properly draped during the entire session.
Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel.
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. However, massages are customized and can be area focused including face and scalp if needed.
What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil, cream or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. This also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.
Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.
What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.
How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.
What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required (these forms can be accessed on the "client forms" tab).
